Wet Hot American Summer

A 2001 cult comedy film about the last day of summer camp in 1981.

It stars Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Showalter, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Michael Ian Black, Amy Poehler, Zak Orth and members of MTV's sketch comedy group The State.

 


 

Superbad

A 2007 comedy film written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who began writing the script when they were both 13 years old. They completed a draft by age 15.

The film's main characters are friends in their final year of school about to leave for college.

 

 

 

When Harry Met Sally

A 1989 American film written by Nora Ephron, and directed by Rob Reiner.

The romantic comedy stars Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally. The film follows the title characters from the time they meet on a carpool ride from the University of Chicago to New York, through the next twelve years or so of chance encounters in New York City.

 

 

 

Armageddon

A 1998 disaster/science fiction film about a group of blue-collar deep-core drillers who are sent by NASA to deflect an asteroid on a collision course with Earth.

It was directed by Michael Bay, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It stars Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler.

 

 

Dazed and Confused

A 1993 comedy-drama film written and directed by Richard Linklater. The movie's large ensemble cast featured a number of future stars including Ben Affleck, Anthony Rapp, Cole Hauser, Milla Jovovich, Joey Lauren Adams, Parker Posey, and Matthew McConaughey.

The film takes place on May 28, 1976, the last day of school at Lee High School in a small town near Austin, Texas. The seniors are preparing for the annual hazing of incoming freshmen.

 

Say Anything

A romantic film written and directed by Cameron Crowe and released in 1989.

The movie features John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler, an average student and aspiring kickboxer who improbably attempts a relationship with school valedictorian Diane Court (played by Ione Skye), despite the fact that some of his friends believe she is out of his league.

The Breakfast Club

A 1985 American teen film widely considered as the definitive work in the genre.

Written and directed by John Hughes, the storyline follows five teenagers (each representing a different clique in high school) as they spend a Saturday in detention together and come to realize that they are all deeper than their respective stereotypes.
