It is the mission of The Echo, the St. Michael's College online publication, to be accurate, fair and objective in our reporting. We strive to maintain a high level of professionalism in our writing, photojournalism, audio/video content, and Web page design by utilizing staff teamwork.
Our intent is to take advantage of the Internet’s pervasiveness by serving not only the needs of our college campus and local community, but also the entire global village. The stories reported on in The Echo are intended to keep readers informed locally, nationally, and abroad.
We seek to make our publication distinct by providing user-interactivity, including audio/video multimedia that may be unavailable through other mediums.
We depend on our readers to give us feedback so that we can accommodate the needs of our audience and report on stories that relay relevant information to our readers. We welcome new content ideas and accept criticism of our work.
Each semester The Echo is under new leadership and direction of a different staff. As such, it is our hope that we can improve on what our predecessors have left behind. The semester ahead will challenge us and we will strive for journalistic excellence.
Specific goals our staff hopes to achieve in the Fall 2007 issues include paying more attention to national issues with a local impact, providing the highest quality multimedia of which we are capable, and continually improving our writing and reporting through the course of the semester.
We will also strive to maintain a professional and team-oriented staff that will be a trustworthy source of news for our readers.
