Shedding light on Holcomb Observatory Larry Frisoli | photo editor Since being constructed in 1941, Holcomb Observatory has sat below the night sky for decades. While then technology has advanced and the area has flourished, along with the roads and buildings, light pollution has affected the Observatory’s clarity. The newly constructed Sutton Fire and Rescue Station was designed with its little old neighbor in mind. A slight amount light pollution from the facility interferes with the telescope, but the Northeast region of the United States make for less than desirable conditions for astronomy.
