Haunted Happenings
Shelburne Museum celebrates Halloween on closing day

On Sunday, Oct. 28 the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vt. celebrated its closing day of the 2007 season with a party of the Halloween variety. Roughly 2,500 vistors attended the outdoor event that featured pumpkin smashing, haunted mazes, pumpkin croquet and a costume contest for the hundreds of young vistors.

While the museum of art and Americana is usually open to teach vistors about American folk art, the goal for the day was turning Halloween into an art, says Shelburne Museum spokeswoman Leslie Wright. The museum also sponsored a food drive and asked vistors to bring in cans that would later be donated to a local food shelf. (Multimedia-click on image to view)
