International exposure The fourth annual International festival was held on Nov. 10, filling the Tarrant Gym with sounds and scents from far-off places. Put on by the Diversity Coalition, the festival was a chance to hear and taste something new. Members of the Coalition prepared specialties such as fish cakes from Barbados and dumplings from Japan. A stage in the center of the gym served as a performance podium for groups specializing in a variety of international dance and demonstration. There was a West African dance company, Jeh Kulu, as well as a Tae Kwan Do demonstration, flamenco dancing, and others. The Diversity Coalition used fun to bring diversity to the attention of students and community members. (MULTIMEDIA-click on the image below to view.)
